Lenny
Lenny is the Baxter family’s loyal Bernedoodle and constant companion. Playful, protective, and full of personality, he is always ready for an adventure — especially if it involves running, chasing, or guarding his favorite humans.
More than just a pet, Lenny seems to sense when something isn’t right. Whether barking at danger or quietly offering comfort, his love is unwavering.
Lenny reminds us of the special bond between children and animals — and the wisdom animals share when we take the time to listen.
Willie — The Wizard in the Well
Willard — known simply as Willie — is the ancient guardian of the water beneath Crooked Creek Farm. Wise, weathered, and quietly magical, he has watched over the land for generations, protecting the underground aquifers that nourish soil, crops, animals, and people.
But as humans forget the importance of water, Willie’s magic is fading. He knows the future of the Earth now rests not only with guardians like him, but with the choices children and families make every day.
Isabella (Bella)
Isabella — or Bella — is the gentle spirit who protects the spring waters above ground. With flowing blue hair and eyes like dewdrops, she represents purity, renewal, and the delicate balance of nature.
As water sources grow weaker, Bella’s strength fades as well. Through Gabby and Finn, she reminds readers that caring for the Earth begins with caring for water — because when we protect water, life flourishes.
Mr. Logan
Mr. Logan is Gabby and Finn’s beloved science teacher — a modern-day wizard with a red bow tie, round glasses, and a passion for learning.
He has a gift for turning complex ideas into exciting discoveries — the kind of teacher who makes science feel like an adventure.
Mr. Logan encourages his students to ask questions, think deeply, and believe they can make a difference in the world. Every adventure needs a teacher like Mr. Logan.

Max & Louise Baxter
Max and Louise Baxter are Gabby and Finn’s loving parents and caretakers of Crooked Creek Farm. They believe in living close to the land — growing their own food, respecting nature, and teaching their children the value of stewardship.
The farm has been in Louise’s family for generations. Shortly after inheriting it, she married Max — a hardworking and kind partner who shares her love for the land.
Together they have created a home where the farm itself becomes a living classroom, teaching lessons about nourishment, responsibility, and respect for the Earth.
